I DEFINITELY SMELL A PORK PRODUCT OF SOME KIND

There was a quote I posted earlier by Friedrich von Schiller which said, "Keep true to the dreams of thy youth."

I started thinking back to all the professions I wanted to be when I was a child. The progression went something like this:

Pig Farmer (and why not?!)
Writer
Miniature Golf Course Owner (I even put together a business plan with a model based around selling pop)
Baseball Player
Business Owner (Nothing specific)
Writer/Film Director

I've never had one profession that I felt like HAD to happen. I know some people that at the age of ten knew they were going to be a lawyer. And they became a lawyer. I don't think I've ever had that feeling of destiny before. I'm not so sure it's a bad thing...just how it is.

If you wouldn't mind sharing - when you were a child, what did you want to grow up to be?

For awhile I wanted to be a vet b/c I loved animals, but I hate needles, so that didn't last long, then I wanted to be an actress, then a lawyer/judge, then I wanted to be behind the scenes for film making.
I do have a feeling of fate though for one of these...but I am not telling which one.

I wanted to be vet since I was 5...at 17 I did an internship at an animal shelter. Loved it but caught this disease from cats that can effect my baby...so I pretty much dropped that. Then my friend's tried to convince me to be an optometrist but I knew in my heart I didn’t want to be...I took all the required classes first semester freshman year and dropped half of them cuz I hated it (not that I didn’t well...I was just bored). The only joy I found was in my Archaeology class. At that moment I decided to major in Archaeology. Loved it...but nothing came of it. Now I can’t see myself with a career... depressing, I know...

Well, I think careers are overrated but I do think you'll find your calling. Um, why exactly did your friends try to talk you into being an optometrist? I just find it a funny profession for friends to steer you towards. The cat thing is scary!
